Why Do I Need A Blog, You Ask?

September 16th, 2011 No comments

Why do I need a blog?” This is one of the questions I get asked most from new internet entrepreneurs. My answer to “Why do I need a blog” is this… No, it’s not “because I said so”. That would be my mother’s answer. My answer is almost as simple. You need a blog because you need to have someplace to call home on the internet, somewhere to house all of the incredibly valuable content you are going to create. You need a place to invite people to come to get to know you so they can begin to like and trust you as an expert in your niche. How ya gonna do that without a blog?

Now that you know why, wanna know how?

Where do you begin? How much is this gonna cost? It’s all so confusing when you are just starting out. I remember when I was getting started online. I had no budget and no one to ask for help. I was a lost soul, wondering around in a strange new world all alone. In fact I drifted aimlessly and wasted a couple of years.

I don’t want you to have to go through that.

So before you try it all by yourself, here’s the facts. Yes, you do need a blog. Don’t waste your time fiddling around with a Blogger blog, Typepad, Live or any of the others. Don’t play Monopoly with your online business and reputation. Do not pass go – go directly to WordPress.org.

What’s WordPress got that the others don’t got?

Everything! WordPress is an open source (meaning continually being developed and improved upon by we the people) “Content Management System” The WordPress platform is incredibly easy to learn to use, even for freakishly frightened technophobes like us. Yep, I’m here to tell you if I can learn WordPress, anyone can. Really.

WordPress is the most easily adaptable point, drag, drop and click CMS platform there is. You can make any kind of site you can imagine with WordPress and the little apps that work on WordPress called plugins.

I have become a WordPress Ninja and so can you!

Here’s the deal. Once I was shown how and had a bit of guidance, I quickly became proficient in building blog sites. I can almost do it with my eyes closed. Once you see how it’s done and practice a bit, you can be an old pro too!

4 Effective Ways To Improve Your Blog Writing

September 9th, 2011 No comments

Blogging is still an effective form of social media. It’s still a good way to get traffic and a blog that is properly monetized is an excellent way to make money.

However, nothing happens if you do not write good blog articles, so let’s talk about 4 things you can do to improve your blog writing.

1. Research swip file. Whenever you come across something that would make a good blog article thrown it in your swipe file. Over time you will build up a large file of potential articles to write on.

When you are researching content ideas for your articles, you can take bits and pieces of information and throw them in your swipe file as well. This way you can keep your blog updated consistently with fresh content.

2. Keywords in the titles. This is important primarily for the search engines. It helps them know what your article is about.

For the most part blog titles are not going to be real long. If you can become proficient at writing interesting titles, that contain your primary keywords, you will draw in more visitors to read that article.

3. Quality over quantity. I’m not talking about the number of articles you write.

What I am talking about is the content you writing the article about. I would much rather read a 200 word blog article that contains one helpful bit of information, then I would to read a 500 hundred word article that goes on and on repeating the same thing over and over.

One thing I have noticed about people on the Internet is they have a short attention span. You can help brand yourself as an expert on the theme of your blog if you write short quality articles that people remember.

4. Think long term. You may not see results from your blogging right away.

If you are determined to put together a quality blog this will help you develop the attitude that you are in it for the long haul. It is amazing how many people start a blog and quit it almost as quickly.

The Internet is packed with content. Unless you are targeting a low competition niche you’re not going to find overnight success.

It may take several weeks, or even months to start to see results. That’s okay because a quality blog will always have a place on the Internet with both the search engines and its readers.

These are 4 effective ways to improve your blog writing and make money online!

Blogging For Beginners

September 6th, 2011 No comments

Everyone it seems is setting up there own blog. We all want our voice to be heard and there is no bigger soap box to stand on than the internet. So what should you consider before even setting a blog up?

Do you want a blog or a website?A blog tends to follow a diary format with the most recent article at the front. However you can alter the settings of your blog so that you have one page of your blog always set as the home page.Websites tend have a static home page with extra content added in the lower tiers of the site.

WordPress is the industry standard blogging platform but it has to be properly configured to give it the best chance with the search engines.

Who is your target audience? How big is your market place? Not much fun spending hours writing blog posts that no on reads.

Do you want to make money with your blog or are you wanting to provide a public service? If you want to make money then you are going to have to adopt a more commercial attitude with what you write about.

You will have to do keyword research, looking at what keywords you are going to target, how many other websites or blogs are competing for those keywords and whether there is any money in those keywords.

By that I mean are they keywords that people would type into Google when they are looking for something to buy.

A good way of finding out is to type into Google a keyword phrase that you would target on your blog.

Look at the top of the search results page and to the right hand column. If there are sponsored ads there it means that keyword phrase is worth something to those advertisers.

It terms of the structure of your blog as well as your normal blog posts you want to create blog pages. These are pages that will appear on your navigation bar. They will provide information that is not time sensitive such as details about you,a links page to another site and a contact page.

You need to think about what blog theme you want to have. The theme sets the look and feel of your blog and will have a big impact on whether someone hangs around on your blog or not. There are free ones that come with WordPress but for the most versatile ones you will have to buy.

How much time have you got to spend writing for your blog? Some of your blog posts will come straight out of your head but others will require careful research. You will have more followers if you seen as a leader and to be a leader you will need to be at the cutting edge of your niche. Are you or do you know what it takes to get there?

It takes effort to make money online.Be clear on what you want to write about and that you have a passion for it.This will come across in your writing and people will feel that and warm to it.

Start Blogging to Drive Traffic to Your Website

July 28th, 2011 No comments

By Charles Kiyimba

A blog is a personal journal that is frequently updated. Initially, people kept online journals, which they shared with their families and friends. Nowadays, there are numerous blogs on the internet providing useful information. As an online marketer, when you start blogging, you will drive traffic to your website.

I started blogging in 2007, writing short stories that I uploaded on a weekly basis for the friends of SOS Children’s Villages to read. However, I didn’t know, at that time, that it was such a wonderful marketing tool. After some time, I realized that the stories I uploaded to the blog, brought to me a lot of popularity. The same stories have helped me to build my credibility. You too can start blogging and post regularly as many useful articles as you can.

Starting your own blog is the easiest and fastest way to begin an online business. If you want to start blogging, just visit Google’s Blogger site, you will be guided on how to set it up free of charge. Within little time you will have your blog working. You can then customize it to suit your designing needs.

When you start blogging, you will benefit abundantly. Even if you do not have a web site, a blog can act as your web site to begin an online marketing business. Blogs are user friendly and easy to set up, yet they provide a lot of useful information. You can market and advertise on your blog.

One of the benefits you will enjoy over web site owners is that a blog is not static, while web sites are. There are many web sites I know that have never been updated at all for the last three years. But since blogs are user friendly, anybody can easily write a story and upload it immediately. You do not have to be with any web designing skills to update your blog. Start blogging now and join affiliate programs you can easily market to your readers to earn commission.

Another most important benefit is that search engines are so friendly to blogs because they provide a lot of information and as you already may have known, the internet is about information. Search engines love frequently changing unique content. All what you need to do is to write and post articles that are of interest to your target market so frequently that search engines can rank your blog high. At the end of each article, make sure you provide a small description about yourself and your business with links to your web site, which is always referred to as a resource box. You will obviously drive traffic to your web site. Do you see the trick?

One other important thing you should know before you start blogging is that you NEED to post information consistently and your information should be original. If you can post at least one article per week, you will not only develop your professional reputation but you will also drive a steady stream of traffic over time to your blog. To continuously drive traffic to your web site or blog, you need to advertise it. One of the easiest and most sustainable ways is to submit the same articles posted on your blog to online directories for publication.

While concluding, I would like to emphasize that blogging does not cost you anything in terms of setting it up. It’s one of the marketing tool that is sustainable and user friendly. Just think about setting up one and use it to market your web site or your affiliate programs.

The Best Uses of Article Marketing for Your Business

July 26th, 2011 No comments

If you ever wanted a zero-cost method for increasing awareness about your business, it has to be article marketing. The following article talks about three effective article marketing strategies that you can use right away to improve your campaigns and actually get results.

Keep in mind that your article title is what will bring people to want to read the rest. Study prolific article writers, and you will see how they approach writing their titles. Also, you can look at poorly written articles and learn a lesson or two, as well. There is no getting around the fact that great titles do not write themselves, and you must craft a great title so it gets attention. Once you are able to compel your audience to read your articles, then you are halfway there – but that is a huge step.

Even if you’re writing an article that’s just 400 words long, you should try to use sub-headlines throughout your article. You will find all kinds of crazy notions about sub-headlines and when and where to use them. Any online reader basically is in a hurry, and they always tend to skim and scan a lot.

The usual pattern is to scan, and if they like what they think it is about, then they will slow down and read it more carefully. What you want to accomplish is well-organized articles using sub-headlines that are much like an outline. Once there is a basic gist for the meaning, then a higher likelihood of it being read will result. The effect you can achieve with solid sub-headlines will be measurable in your conversions.

Did you know that your articles represent a form of content that can be expressed in a different way? One popular method involves turning your articles into videos and using the usual distribution channels. There are tons of reasons why you should make use of video, and your articles just makes it easier. There are several options for doing this, and just is making a slideshow with content, and then you can add what ever audio you want. If you end-up with a long video, say maybe 6 or 7 minutes, then you can make that into part one and two. If you can create a compelling video, then hopefully they will get comments, views and likes everywhere.

Article marketing can still be something that will work well for your business. If you want your article marketing campaign to work, then do whatever you can to make it big, rather than being mediocre.

Nine Blogging Tips For Your Online Internet Maketing Business

July 16th, 2011 No comments

With millions of blogs on the internet – and more being added every day! – it can seem like an impossible task to get your online internet business up and running and get your blog noticed. But it is possible to make a niche for yourself, even in a very competitive market space. Here are nine ways to create attention to your blog:

1) Write great content. It sounds simple, but it’s true. If you want people to want to read your stuff, and refer your friends to your site, write content worth reading. Then do it again, and again, and again.

2) Interact with other bloggers. There are many bloggers in your niche, and instead of viewing them as competitors, see them as potential partners. Comment on their blogs via social media sites and so on. Make yourself their supporter, and they’ll be more receptive to helping you out when they can.

3) Add eye-catching images. Lots of people are scanners, and they’ll pop over to your blog to just see what’s happening. Strong images are a great way to grab their attention; long blocks of text are a turn-off for most people.

4) Add audio and video. Adding other media forms is a way to mix things up and keep them interesting. While any one particular visitor might skip an audio, another one might be dying to hear your voice!

5) Keep things relevant. Comment on the latest trends in your industry, or relate top-of-mind news stories to your market. For example, if everyone’s talking about reality TV, can you take a spin on the most popular show for your market? Be the go-to expert.

6) Interview “big names.” While you may not be able to compete with the “celebrities” in your market when it comes to traffic, you can divert some of their traffic your way by interviewing them. This is a great place to bring in audio and video.

7) Do a giveaway. Find something people in your market would really like, and hold a contest or giveaway. (Hint: The more tightly tied the prize is to your market, the more targeted your traffic will be).

8) Guest posting means appearing on other blogger’s sites. It allows you to reach a new market, complete with the stamp of approval from someone that this new market already knows, likes, and trusts. For more information on guest blogging – including how to hold your own “blog tour” – visit Nicole Dean’s blog at nicoleonthenet.com.

9) Interact with readers. Your audience is your bread and butter. When they comment, you should be appreciative AND responsive. Engage them in conversation, either in the comments section of your site, or via email. Never ignore your readers!Very few bloggers – even those who consider themselves “professionals” – do all these things.

That’s why there will always be room for someone new at the top – someone who’s willing to do the things others aren’t. Someone like you!

Taking the Long Term Approach to Generating Traffic for Your Blog

July 12th, 2011 No comments

If you want your blog to be profitable, or even if you just want to reach more people with your ideas, you need a daily influx of visitors who are interested in what you’re blog is about. So what can you do to ensure that your blog gets regular traffic? There are a few practical strategies you need to follow, and we’ll be covering these below.

Effective On-page SEO: One of the most important things that you need to remember when aiming for long term traffic is doing effective SEO on your blog. While many people focus on off-page SEO by building lots of backlinks, you also have to make sure the on-page elements of your blog are optimized as well. Whenever you post to your blog, you should think about the keywords you’re trying to target with that post. Your blog posts should also make use of anchor text for your keywords in appropriate places. Internal linking is another aspect to on-page SEO, so be sure to connect various related pages and posts to each other throughout your blog. It can help your search engine ranking to use internal linking, as this is something Google likes to see when it crawls your site. That’s why you should set up your entire blog keeping on-page SEO elements in mind, as this will help your site rank higher.

Remember to Post Consistently: You must regularly post to your blog if you want to increase the flow of traffic it receives. Not only do readers like blogs that are updated often, but so do the search engines. But there has to be some value to the content; posting low quality, rehashed or duplicate content isn’t going to be helpful. If you want to increase your traffic, you have to make sure you’re providing your visitors with quality information as well as keeping your content fresh. If you look at the really popular blogs in any niche, you’ll see that they are generally updated every single day. You don’t really have to go overboard with your posts; even 1-2 posts a day would be a good number to start.

Simplify Things: As more people utilize the internet, it is becoming more and more complex. This can lead to information overload so people are looking for solutions that can simplify things. Generating targeted traffic is all about getting your target audience to talk about your site. When you focus on simplifying things and making it easy for your visitors to take action, you will see that your visitors will not only become loyal, but they’ll also spread the word around about the experience they had with your blog.

These tips for generating traffic rarely fail. Taking consistent action is the key to making it big with your blog. So start using the above tips today to get started.

4 Advanced Online Marketing Tips

July 8th, 2011 No comments

In the past when a business wanted to promote something they did it via the Yellow Pages, direct mail, or newspaper. Larger companies would use other forms of media such as television or radio.

Today the Internet provides many options for promoting a business that were not available in the past. To promote any kind of business profitably online you need to learn advanced online marketing tips.

Of course another option to that is to hire an Internet marketing company to handle things for you. Either way marketing on the Internet is different than what you may have been used to in the past.

Here are 4 techniques that I would consider to be somewhat advanced, yet anyone can learn how to do.

1. Article marketing. This technique does not cost anything to do except the time it takes to write articles. You can also find article writers who will handle your content creation for you.

Once you have an article written you need to submit it to online article directories. You can also find an article marketing company to do this for you.

2. Blogging. Social media has become very large on the Internet. Having a company blog is a good way to keep in contact with people online.

You can educate your existing customers or develop a rapport with new prospects. Search engines like blogs that are maintained so you can benefit that way too.

3. Discussion forums. This is an easy way to promote almost anything in a passive way. It does take time to participate in online discussions.

The payback comes to you when you create a signature file that includes a link back to your website. This is generally very high traffic and one of the most advanced online marketing strategies you can use.

4. Video marketing. Search engines love to rank videos in their results. People like to view videos online and you can include your website URL and use it to create traffic.

I like Article Video Robot as an effective way to create a video out of an article. This doesn’t take any specific skill and it’s a very good way to get your videos into shared video sites such as You Tube.

I have also found that search engines are ranking videos quickly after you submit them. Article Video Robot lets you submit to multiple video sites with one click so you can start getting traffic faster.

These are 4 advanced online marketing tips. This is something anyone can learn how to do, or you can outsource to an Internet marketer at a reasonable price.

Effective Content Ideas to Help You Grow Your Blog

July 1st, 2011 No comments

Creating a blog isn’t really difficult these days with the many services at your expense, both free and paid. When it comes to the creation of content, though, you need to focus on a variety of content ideas so that you can give as much as possible to your chosen audience. If you spend some time reading the more popular blogs in a variety of niches you will see that each of those blogs has its own unique tone and way of delivering information to readers that sets them apart from all of the other blogs out there. So…which content ideas are going to work the best on the blog you’ve created? Let’s explore a few.

Give Away a Tip or Two: One of the quickest and least complicated ways to compose content for your blog is to give a way a tip or two for free. People are always interested in content that offers some kind of a solution and makes things easy, and articles that carry tips are typically more appealing. You’ll be even more popular if you break down your content into smaller chunks so that they are easier to read. The niche doesn’t matter; as long as the content you create is helpful and enjoyable they will come back and share your content with other people. You need to make sure that your posts aren’t too small and that they contain information your readers can use right away.

Problems or Issues: Let’s be honest; everyone has problems and everyone would like to find a solution to those problems. A blog is a great forum in which to talk about and offer solutions to those problems. While the problems you choose to talk about in your blog should be related to your niche market, the point is that if you can help your readers solve their problems, you can actually do quite a lot to help yourself as well.

When you build your reputation as an expert it can help you find even more subscribers and traffic for your blog. Really, this way, everyone wins; you get to help people and your readers get helped! The important thing to remember is that you should focus your attention on big problems that lots of people experience and not the small problems only felt by a few.

Tell People What You Think: The readers of your blog want to know what you think about things. The iPad 2 is a great topic for blogs about Apple and its products.

If your blog is one about self-help, you could offer your opinions on the latest procrastination cures. You have lots of ways to come up with and share your opinions with your readers. Seeming biased about something isn’t anything to worry about because you’re dealing in opinion here and while some will agree with you, it’s okay if some don’t.

There’s a lot that you can do with your blog as far as the content is concerned; you just need to take consistent action and work on new ideas so that your blog stands out of the crowd and gets the attention of your target audience.

3 Home Business Backlink Building Ideas

June 29th, 2011 No comments

Many people start a home business by joining a specific program. You see this in various business models including network marketing and affiliate marketing.

The one problem with this approach is you are promoting the same website that all of the other members are promoting. The difference is that your website is coded with your specific identification number.

This means that everyone is promoting the same website. Often times you are also promoting the same marketing materials with the exception of them again be coded with your ID number.

There is one way around this. The best way to do this is to purchase your own domain name, and set up hosting for your own website.

You can then build your website and make changes to it anytime you want. This allows you to customize it as well as to promote it anyway you want online as well.

The best way to do that is to practice home business back link building. Promote your new website and target specific keyword phrases by various linking strategies.

1. Article marketing has been my favorite form of getting backlinks for a long time. You can promote your home business in the resource box of any article you write and submit.

You want to get your articles into the top article directories where search engines and readers can find them. Submit Your Article is a good way to develop unique versions of your articles and build up a lot of backlinks to multiple article directories.

2. Blogging. One thing I like to do is to build a website using the WordPress blogging platform.

I like to set up my homepage as a static page so it looks like a website. However, when you blog you can also add categories and individual posts.

Search engines love this because you are adding fresh content to your site. You can also develop links by promoting your individual blog posts.

3. Video marketing. Another thing I like to do is to take my articles and make videos out of them. Article Video Robot is a website that converts articles into videos and lets you submit them with one click.

This is a great way to get your videos on the Internet in places such as You Tube. You can also copy the code for your new video and place it in your blog to give it a little more flavor.

These are just 3 ideas for home business backlink building. There are many other things you can do including discussion forums, edu sites, blog commenting, trading links, and so on.

The more backlinks you get the more your home business will grow! It takes some work on your part, but the rewards make it worth the effort.
